Guidance and Counselling Service
The College Career Guidance and Counselling Service is a non-judgmental
confidential service available to all students at Drogheda Institute
of Further Education. The service assists students in the transition
from Second Level to Further Education and in the transition from Further
Education to Higher Education or to the world of work.
The guidance counsellor facilitates and assists students in areas such
as further study options, adjusting to college life, study skills, time
management skills and exam techniques.
Career Guidance is available on a one to one and group basis. The guidance
counsellor may use career interest inventories and computer aided guidance
to facilitate the student. Students are also provided with information
on up to date formats for C.V. presentation and interview skills.
Advice is available on further study opportunities through both CAO
and UCAS, FETAC links and employment opportunities.
The college counselling service aims to help identify stresses and
anxieties that might affect the academic and personal development of
the student. The counsellor provides a safe and supportive space where
individual students can discuss their personal problems in total confidence.
